Check Point Monitor

Hours: Full-time, contract

The Checkpoint Monitor is responsible for ensuring the safety of Saik’uz by monitoring and investigating all traffic entering or leaving the community. A Checkpoint Monitor should provide a calm, alert, and observant presence to the community and be willing to take down information of those entering or leaving. Checkpoint Monitors are to prioritize their safety and contact the RCMP and Band Office if difficulties arise during their shift.

This position is a full-time, contract position, negotiated month to month. Weekday (Mon-Fri) shifts are eight hours long and weekend (Sat-Sun) are twelve hours long.

Custodian (Health Centre)

The external and internal appearance of a building reflects on the occupants; therefore, the successful applicant must be careful and thorough in working, cleaning, and tidying the facility. Education, Training, & Employment Manager

The Education, Training, & Employment Manager is responsible for the planning, organization, and management of Saik’uz First Nation’s educational and training approaches, as well as for supporting Saik’uz band members seeking employment or wishing to improve their employability. This is a critical role in the Saik’uz Administration that advocates and provides opportunities for and ensures the growth and support of Saik’uz members of all ages and education levels.

Health Assistant

Hours: Full-time

The Health Assistant supports Health Centre functions and activities through the provision of a full range of administrative support, processes, procedures, and services to the Health Manager and health team. This position requires the ability to work independently and assist with carrying out special assignments with minimal supervision. The Health Assistant has the opportunity to develop broad experience, skills, and knowledge of organizational policies, procedures, and practices.

Health Receptionist (On-Call)

Hours: Variable

An On-Call Health Receptionist is a member of the Saik'uz Health Centre team. They are responsible for providing excellent customer service, positive patient and family experience, and performing all administrative duties proficiently, according to policy, while assisting patients and maintaining the utmost confidentially. Additionally, the On-Call Health Receptionist must be available on short notice.

Housing Coordinator

Hours: Full-time

The Housing Coordinator is responsible for the maintenance activities of housing for the Saik’uz First Nation; the successful applicant will be responsible for the administration, management, and delivery of all public works and housing programs, services, and properties within Saik’uz First Nation; inspecting and maintaining the housing units; contracting with and supervising all service and maintenance people; working in a collaborative relationship with the administrative staff of the General Manager in matters related to establishing and collecting rents and security deposits; and processing moves and evictions.

Land & Resources Assistant Manager

Hours: Full-time

The Land & Resources Assistant Manager supports the Land & Resource Manager where necessary in the associated duties of managing various projects, operational policies, plans, and procedures according to the current priorities of the Saik’uz First Nation Chief and Council. The Land & Resources Assistant Manager will also be responsible for assisting in Government and Industry referrals by records maintenance, drafting an appropriate response, identifying potential issues with proposed activities, and ensuring that all recommendations are aligned with any current and future land use plans, cultural practices and ideals, and resource use plans (e.g. Yinka Dene Water Policy).

Receptionist (On-Call)

Hours: Variable

The On-Call Receptionist handles visitor-facing duties as well as general office management tasks. When visitors walk into the Saik'uz office, we want them to find a friendly, smiling face and a helping hand. The ideal candidate has excellent communication and multitasking skills, a positive attitude, and a strong work ethic. Additionally, the On-Call Receptionist must be available on short notice.

COVID-19 Safety Precautions:
To keep our staff as safe as possible, we've installed plexiglass barriers at reception, provided hand sanitizer to all workstations and masks to all staff, and marked out 2-metre safe zones around all workstations and in high-traffic areas. Additional, the Saik'uz Band Office is open on an appointment-only basis to ensure the tracking of those visiting the building, allow for proper sanitization after each visitor, and keep the number individuals in the building at any one time within the guidelines provided by BC's Public Health Officer.
