Band Designate Representative

Job Summary: Saik’uz First Nation seeks a full-time Band Designate Representative (BDR). This position requires a highly motivated individual with community programming experience and training. The BDR is responsible for the development of prevention and educational programs, one-on-one support, and ensuring families have opportunities to increase their ability to effectively care for their children and develop or maintain healthy family dynamics that promote resilience. The BDR agrees to uphold the Child, Family, and Community Service Act and Aboriginal Operations Procedures and Standards Indicators, ensures that all Band members are fully aware of their rights, and considers the child’s interest and welfare paramount.

Additionally, the BDR liaises with other First Nation Band Representatives, agencies, and legal counsel, accompanies Ministry of Child & Family Development workers during investigations, and supports and works with the Carrier Sekani Family Preservation Team and CSFS Community Wellness Team. The BDR also prepares, responds to, and processes legal documents as required by the Court.

This is a full-time position based on a 35-hour work week.

Community Beautification Supervisor

Job Summary: 

The Community Beautification Supervisor is responsible for the coordination of groundskeeping and beautification of the common areas of Saik’uz First Nation. The Supervisor’s duties include tasks such as:

  • Maintaining equipment and tools
  • Training all workers in the proper and safe operation of all tools and equipment, such as lawn mowers, tree pruners, and clippers
  • Ensuring all workers are correctly and consistently using appropriate PPE such as safety glasses, gloves, and proper footwear
  • Scheduling workers and designating areas of work
  • Providing regular progress reports and updates to upper management

This is a summer position and ends in the fall.

Community Beautification Worker

Community Health Representative

Community Mentor

Position ID: R-2301

Hours: Full-time, contract (extension funding dependent)

Job Summary: In partnership with Right to Play (RTP)’s Promoting Life Skills in Aboriginal Youth (PLAY), the Community Mentor is responsible for the planning and implementation of programming for children and youth in the Saik’uz community. The Community Mentor can expect to:

  • Design a program schedule that fits participant needs and interests
  • Plan, lead, and assess core programs
  • Facilitate a registration process
  • Support youth in planning and leading initiatives

The Community Mentor will report directly to both the General Manager and an assigned RTP Program Officer. The position is a one-year contract (extension dependent on funding), requires an ability to work non-standard hours, and involves occasional travel (2-3 times per year).
